How it works
How a letter gets onto the blockchain
No wallet, no tokens, no app to install. You write, you pay by card, and the words themselves go inside a Bitcoin transaction — where anyone can read them back for as long as the network exists. Here is the whole of it, step by step.
You write it
Choose the paper and the hand it is written in, and watch the letter take shape as you type. 300 characters, with a counter that shows bytes as well — those are what actually go onto the chain. Nothing is sent anywhere yet; the draft is yours to rewrite as often as you like.
You pay once, by card
$9 for a letter, taken by Stripe. We never see your card, and you never touch a wallet, an exchange or a seed phrase. There is no subscription behind it: the letter is not hosted, it is inscribed, so nothing is left to keep paying for.
We write the words into a Bitcoin transaction
This is the part worth understanding. Your letter is not uploaded to a server and linked from the chain — the text itself is carried inside the transaction, in a field called OP_RETURN. The transaction is the letter. We build it, sign it with our own key, and pay the network fee out of the price you paid.
The network takes it
The transaction is broadcast within a minute or so of your payment and waits in the mempool until a miner writes it into a block, usually within the hour. From then on every full node on earth keeps a copy — tens of thousands of machines, none of them ours.
You get a page to share
A page at your own link, with the letter, a certificate of permanence showing the block and its confirmations, and a QR code. The code carries the transaction itself rather than our address, so it still finds the letter if this website one day does not — which is also why it can go on something engraved.
What this is not
It is not an NFT
Nothing is minted, nothing is owned, nothing is resold afterwards. There is no token and no market. What you have is text in a public ledger, which is the only part that was ever the point.
It is not private
A letter written into Bitcoin is public by nature — the same property that makes it permanent. Write it as something you would be glad for someone to find in eighty years, not as a secret. For the same reason we block email addresses and phone numbers before inscribing.
It is not kept by us
We hold a copy so the page loads quickly, but the letter does not depend on it. If this company vanished tomorrow the words would still be in the transaction, and any block explorer would read them straight back out.
It cannot be taken back
There is no edit button and there never will be. Read it aloud once before you pay.
